Here's the kind of game company that we want to add to the database:
-The company has to be in America, and you have to at least know what
city they're in. (Preferably a ZIP code or better yet street address,
but just city will work.) The main reason is that right now I don't
have geocoding
support for anything outside the U.S. If the site takes off, I'd definately
like to add it, but for now, stick to U.S. companies.
-The company has at least one fulltime, 40+ hours a week, employee.
I don't mean to disparage groups of people making games in their spare
time. (Heck, I'm making this website in my spare time.) On
the other hand, there are a startling number of such "companies",
and I don't think it would serve our needs to fill the database with
them.
-The company must have a website. If for no other reason, at least
so I can verify they exist.
-They must actively be involved in developing games. No publishers
without in-house dev teams, no recruiting firms, etc.
-No online poker, or casino gaming companies. That's a different kind
of gaming, which is plenty interesting in its own right, but someone
else can make that website.
-They must fit in one (or more) of the platform categories below.
Let me know if you think these rules are silly, or need some expansion.
Thanks!
